Eleanor Yuhas

Eleanor Tverdak Yuhas passed away on June 18, 2017 in Tuckerton, NJ, after a long illness. Eleanor was born Nov. 18,1919 in Flanders, East Lyme, CT to Helen Havrilla Tverdak and Michael Tverdak.  She was the eldest of four siblings and was raised in both East Lyme Ct. and Bayonne NJ.  She has resided in Southern Ocean County for the past 7 years under the care of her niece, Milissa Larstanna.She was a graduate of Bayonne High School and attended Jersey City State College.  She was employed by the Hudson County Board of Vital Statistics before working for Exxon Research and Engineering for many years as a legal secretary. After retiring from Exxon, she relocated to her beloved Island in  East Lyme,CT to manage the Family Campground, with her brother Ed Tverdak.Eleanor was a lifelong animal rights advocate and especially loved her many cats.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, music and dancing,  She had a special love of cowboys and the old west.  Her greatest love was for her family of which she was the undisputed matriarch. She especially loved her nieces and nephews and she cared for them throughout her lifetime.She is predeceased by her parents, her husband John Yuhas, her brother Edward Tverdak and her niece Jody Wilk.

She is survived by her sisters Marge Wilk, of Bayonne and Manahawkin, Marie Blyskal of Lakewood, her niece Milissa Wilk Larstanna (Frank), Matthew Wilk (Annette), Jason Wilk, Michael Blyskal (Carol), Karen Blyskal, Jeffrey Blyskal (Mary) and many Grand Nephews and Grand Nieces. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's and St. Michaels church in Bayonne and St.Joseph's Church in New London, CT. Private Services will be held in CT. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to Fischer Center for Alzheimer Research (ALZinfo.org) or The Liberty Humane Society (Libertyhumane.orgArrangements by: Sweeney Funeral Home, Bayonne
