Eugene K. Loughney”Gene the Marine”, 78, of Bayonne, NJ passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA , he lived in Jersey City before moving to Bayonne several years ago. Gene was a Teamster Local #617 Ridgefield. NJ for over 30 years working with several Trucking Companies in Hudson County.

He served in the US Marine Corp. He was a member of American Legion Post #19 Bayonne and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #266 Jersey City.

Son of the late Maude (Moyer) and James Ambrose Loughney, Sr. Brother of the late James Ambrose Loughney, Jr. Beloved husband of the Late Rosalie (Anzovino) Loughney.Surviving are his daughters Ruthie Loughney and Colleen Bautista. Grandchildren Jade Loughney, Colleen Morin, and Steve Bautista. Great Grandchildren Madison Rosalie Lopez and Nicholas Joseph Morin, Jr.His Furbabies Tepee, Raintree, Kissy and Bella.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016, from 3:00 to 9:00 pm at Sweeney Funeral Home, Bayonne, NJ.  Burial on Saturday, November 12, 2016, in Bayview Cemetery, Jersey City NJ at 11:00am.

As a member of the American Legion Post 19, I knew "Gene the Marine for many years, Although he could not hear very well, We had many conversations, and shared a meal or two. He loved the Marine Corp. Sorry to red about his death.

Sorry I could attend wake. I am not mobile. I knew Gene for over 25 years, I am sorry I did not have a chance to talk with him prior to his death. He was a gentleman. and a friend. Sorry.
